Looks to be generic windows message, possible to perform a reboot and try again?

Did a reboot of SEPM and same thing. Waiting for SQL admin to reboot the SQL server, if that will help?

I think it might be that you have 51k+ clients and SymDiag might be erroring out from the large result returned from the database server?

Have you tried running SymDiag as admin?

Haven't seen any limitations with SymDiag but with that amount of clients it may have one. Is the SQL box under heavy resource load?

Ok, this isn't a limitation with SymDiag. I just finished running it in my environment. I have over 160,000 clients. Check your Windows event logs to see if there are any related messages. Also, I'd try rebooting your SEPM.

Check your SQL event logs as well. This error may be coming from the SQL server. We generally put a minimum of 64GB in a SQL server, for our SEPMs, each site has 128GB.

Thanks, we are trying to up the RAM on the SQL server and currently upgrading the SEPM to 64GB. Will let you know. Thanks.

    Hi all,

Just upgraded the SEPMx1 to 64GB , Operating system=2012, the other 3 are still on 16GB, OS=Win 2008 and SQL 2012 upgraded RAM to 64GB ram.

Now I get this error from the SymDiagnostic tool towards the end. Any ideas?

The process cannot access the file 'c:\users\xxx\appdata\local\temp\temp16648\VirusTable.dbe' because it is being used
    by another process."Virus_table.dbe"

After pressing the OK button, there is no data or report???

Does this error occur across reboots? This sounds like something that would happen if you had a SymDiag running and it failed, then started it again. If you can't reboot the server (I know how that goes), then check your processor logs for any running processes associated with SymDiag and turn them off.

If that doesn't work, then reboot and try again.

If this does continue to occur across reboots, let us know. The next step would probably be to reboot, clear the temporary folders for your user and try again.

Already tried rebooting and restarting the SymDiag tool. Each time I clear the temporary folders and reboot and then restart the SymDiag, same error.

The SQL server was restarted when the upgrade took place. I have restarted my SEPM as well.

Have you tried running SymDiag as Administrator? Not your logged in account but directly as Administrator. Right Click and Choose Run as Admin.

When you clear the temp files, you're going into the folder and deleting all the files directly right?

Last resort, login as a different admin level user (you can create a temp local account if needed) and delete your user account from the server. Then log back in with your initial login and let it create a new profile. I'm thinking there may be a profile issue. I haven't seen that happen in Server 2008 or later but there is always that chance.

Are there any errors in the Windows Event Logs?

Tried running with admin account and same issue. No other errors on Windows event logs...
