Safari Restrictions
Updated: 22 Feb 2012 | 6 comments
I have a problemes with the safari restrictions in mobile management. I can get them to work just fine on iPad but on Iphone they act differently.
For example I have created a policy with the following restrictions:
Autofill OFF
Fraud warning ON
JavaScript OFF
Block Pop-ups ON
Accept Cookies NEVER
On the iPad they all change into the desired state with enrollment and are greyed out so the user cannot change them. But on the iPhone only JavaScript changes and is greyed out.
Have I missed something basic here or are there issues needing correction here?

No solution?
Has anyone even tested this and can verify that they get it to work?
I need an answer here so I know if I need to file a case or not.
Create in iTunes
I'd create this profile in iTunes and see if it behaves as you expect. If it does, it could be a problem with MMS pushing the correct profile. If it does not work as you expect, it could be a configuration problem or an Apple iOS problem.
Unfortunately, I haven't tested Safari restrictions on an iPhone, so I can't say without being there.

It works with iPhone
It works with iPhone Configuration Utility so I guess that rules out it being an Apple problem.
Think I have to open up a case with Symantec on this matter.
Problem solved.
It was a mistake on my part. I had made 2 restrictions which of course conflicted with eachother and so caused the problems. Only one restriction policy may be applied to a single device.
Told you!
Told you it was a problem with MMS not pushing the correct profile.. it had two! Nice work.

Still don't work
Guess I was to early in my belief that it was solved. Still won't work on iphone only on ipad.
Only have one configuration going out so no conflicts and if I look in inventory on the iphone (in the console) it says the that the right configuration policies are in place. But on the device only the java script is greyed out and set as it should. The others stay as they were and the user can change them as they please.
Would be happy to hear if someone has successfully set this up.
