This issue has been solved. See solution.

Has who is using SAV 10 addressed Microsoft KB822158? How can I exclude specific files via the client auto-protect options in SSC when I only see the options to exlcude folders and file extensions? Hopefully I'm missing something obvious. My boss has asked me to address this KB article with our scans, but I'm not sure I can. Migrating to SEP is not an option at this point. We are short-staffed and are doing good to keep the wheels on right now.

Thanks!

Notes:

You cannot exclude drives from within clients.
You cannot use environmental variables, such as %windir%, to exclude folders. You must use the full path, such as C:\Winnt\.
You cannot use the wildcard characters * or ? to set exclusions.
When you exclude a folder, you also exclude all objects within that folder, including files in subfolders.

So...

My choices are folders and extensions, not files/folders and extensions. Can I type a path to a specific file location and excluse that one particular file so as not to exclude subfolders and contents?  (Running 10.1.7)

Thanks!

One last question and I'll quit bothering you.

Why do my options not display like those you linked to here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security....

Not only do I not see files, I don't get the tree to select my excludes. I have to type them out, leaving room for error.

The screen that you see is On

The screen that you see is On the client side for custom scans and context scans.

The steps to given above are for the server side ( SSC)
Thats the only reason that you don't see the tree :)
