I recently replaced our old Netware 5.1 SAV 8.5 server with a Netware 6.5, SAV 10.1.8.8000 one. Things seemed to be working except for AMS2. In SSC, Server Group, All Tasks, AMS, Configure, the Alert Actions list was empty. The instructions said make sure AMS was installed on the server. To make sure, uninstall from the server then reinstall and make sure the AMS box is checked. During the initial install I kept waiting for an AMS checkbox to appear and none did, only a radio button with REPORTING which I clicked. So I followed the instructions. I Uninstalled the server software and noticed that some of the AMS NLMs were in the list of files being deleted. I installed from my workstation and I saw no AMS checkbox. Now I have a large mess. The SymantecUserGroup on the server is gone. I had been using that to update the Client software when I logged on. I think I have all 60 or so client machines running the later client software so that is not a huge issue, just a symptom. None of the clients show up in SSC. The clients no longer get the virus definition updates from the server. Using my workstation computer as a test bed I copied the GRC.DAT file to the C:\Documents..\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec....\7.5 folder, deleted the virus def db files, rebooted a few times. The GRC.DAT disappeared as expected but no virus def updates. I am now going to uninstall the client software and reinstall. I was logged in as me with admin rights for the server install. I'll try another uninstall and reinstall logged in using the admin account tonight. I might need to make this into 2 discussions.
1.Assuming I ever get this back to where it was last week, how does one get AMS2 to work with a single Netware server and WinXP Home workstations? The new Reporting module apparently doesn't work with Netware or Win XP Home Edition. Since it appears to be 11 times as big, I'm not too dissappointed.
2.How do I get back to where I was last week?
Thanks for any help,
Bob
