  • 1.  SAV 10 says all up-to-date when not!

    Posted Apr 02, 2011 05:18 PM

I am assisting somebody who is using SAV Corporate 10 on about 150 clients. We are trying to make an unattended script and use ghosting to make deployment and replacement of computers simpler and more affordable (and are using Norton ghost!)

What we have noticed in the last few months is that some clients automatically download updates (the dev machine has got 1/4/11 rev 2 currently) as normal, but some don't at all. Another dev machine is showing 8/9/06 rev 41 definitions and LiveUpdate just says that it is all up-to-date. If I were to uninstall and reinstall SAV, there is no problem and LiveUpdate works absolutely fine.

Is this a common issue and/or a solution? Have tried upgrading the LiveUpdate, deleting the settings and download folders etc.

This happens when manually installed or when installed by the automated script.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

are the clients taking the updates from the SAV server?

is it communicating with server on port 2967?

I'm not sure to be honest, can find out if necessary.

Don't think it's the server or ports as reinstalling always works fine!

What SAV version are you running?
    Does restarting the machine helps?
Does that machine connected to the parent server? If yes, what is showing on the SSC ?

Lots of variable here, please open a case with Support to fix your issue once and for all as we had issue that was fixed in SAV 10.1 MR8 about ability of a SAV client to handle the evergrowing virus defs.

Got SAV 10.1.5.5000, restarting doesn't help and it shows the parent server correctly (exactly the same as the working ones).

Will try and get contact Support, will need to update to the newest verson anyway soon as have renewed license!

I would suggest to upgrade to the newest available version (10.1.9.9100).

If you're going to move up, I would suggest moving up to SEP, which offers broader protection than antivirus alone. Current build is 11.0.6300.
