SAV 10.1.5 not updating

We have a problem with 2 clients on our network it's not updating, and we already checked communcations, clear cache, group certificaticates troubleshooting. we also reinstalled the client software and it still the same. But I noticed that when we launch liveupdate progress bar completes but the date is still the old, when we restart the symantec client service, the service hangs and the status is "stopping". What could be the problem?

we tried killing the service but it give's us an error "access denied" this maybe because it's already stopping. Another thing that we've noticed is when we restart the server it get's the update but after a few days it lags again.

on the other hand, I know that there's a new product version 10.1.8, can we update the product version on the problem clients while the parent server and the other clients will be left to 10.1.5 version? we are not encountering this problem with the other clients just this 2 clients/servers.

A couple of suggestions

You always need to make sure that the SAV/SCS server is a version that is equal to or greater than any of the clients it manages. The same goes for the SSC and it's relation to the SAV/SCS server. If you don't you run the risk of a host of inconsistent behavious depending on the mix. I'd recommend that you try and keep your SAV/SCS servers running at the latest verion.

As for the issue with the client not updating, I'd recommend calling support and logging a case with them. It sounds like you've ticked all the obvious boxes as far as troubleshooting is concerned. I'll ask around here for you and see if anyone else has any suggestions.

Hi Paul,

I do remeber we too faced the exact issue when we were using SAV 10.1.4.x or SAV 10.1.5.x.

Better you upgrade the same to 10.1. MR8 as Symantec technical support will suggest you the same when you launch a call with them.

Better do it now and then check.

If you face the issue, then escalate the same to Symanetc Team.

Where to download

Hi,

I'm looking for the MR8 and am having problems using the search and found the AntiVirus Corporate Edition Downloads. Selected the 10.1MR8 (10.1.8) option. Clicked on [>] and "No files were found."

I'm having the same issue. When the client services were attempted to stop, it stays in the "stopping" stage.

Did  you successfully use the 10.1 MR6 MP1 (10.1.6.1). That one's available in the download site:

Enter your serial number here.

But you won't mget it from here as it always show the latest version i.e. SEP 11.0 MR4MP1a.

You can call Technical support and they will provide with the username & password for downloading this version.

For the client not getting

For the client not getting updates from server I would recomend to copy the grc.dat and the *.xdb file from server and copy to the client. then restart the client and check whether autoprotect is working or not then wait for some time if after this also client doen't update then call symantec guys for help.

Have you checked your LiveUpdate engine, if it is currupt the it wont start and update the definition,

Try to uninstall Liveupdate and reinstall it.

Hi David, I see your point, but what about the process of symantec, I think the updates are there its just that when we restart the av and def watch service, it hangs.. what could be the problem? The service is left "stopping".
