Has SAV 10.2.3 (MR3) finally fixed the network shares problem on windows server 2008? I noticed 10.2 MR3 was released but I am hesitant to put it back onto our win 2008 servers as I don't want the same problem with file shares happening again.

MR2 was also supposed to fix the problem but apparently it didn't so has MR3 finally fixed the issue?

    Hey Evolution,

Yes, 10.2 MR3 should correct the network shares issue as per the release notes. I should note however that unless you opened a case with Technical Support and we identified the issue you are facing as the same issue this build corrects then there is no guarantee that this fix will apply to you.

Title: 'Release notes for Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 Client for Vista and Windows Server 2008'

    Hope that helps!

I had the original SAV 10.2 as it was released and from the time we went over to win 2008 late last year the server file shares kept locking up on all of our XP workstations daily. The local symantec agent for my region actually came into the office and diagnosed the problem to be the issue of auto-protect "deadlocking" the file shares.

We have been running without any antivirus on the file server (x64) or exchange server (x64) for serveral months now. To compensate I have been doing virus sweeps via the shared drives to check for any viruses.

However server 2008 x64 like vista x64 seems to have very good natural resistance to most known viruses.
