Endpoint Protection

I am running SAV 9.x Corporate on a Windows 2003 Server.  Every day, I get the following error message that I must clear:

 

At the top of a DOS window, there is the line: 

 

C:\Program Files\Liveupdate Administration\Silntlua.exe

 

Within the DOS window is the error message:

 

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

C:\Program Files\liveupdate administration\luadmin.exe

Abnormal program termination

 

How do I fix this so it does not return every day?

I have seen this error on 2 systems I administer.  Both in the same environment you describe.  Have found nothing on the web to help resolve it.  If I do not log in on the console for a week or so, there are a lot of them piled up, and they seem then to start interfering with other processes.

 

The updates seem to happen OK, just the "abnormal program  termination"

I have an identical problem on a W2k3 Server I manage for a school in seattle.  It is a real problem because I go months without logging on to it and there will be DOZENS AND DOZENS of these messages stacked up.

I have searched the internet on a regular basis for over a year.  I have found MANY people in diverse forums that have this issue. No one has ever resolved it.

Why is there no resolution?

I would uninstall/reinstall but we all know what a royal PIA that can be w/ symantec products.

I am starting to swing new clients over to FSecure because of the apparant lack of interest by Symantec in addressing client issues.  Not just this, but all of the false positives and general non-responsiveness of Symantec.

Sheesh.  I wish Peter Norton still owned the shop.

Updated Microsoft C++ runtime libarary and reboot the system.

 I'd like to let you know that SAV 9 is not supported any more. Move to SAV 10 or SEP 11. This is not the solution to your issue with LUA but a Security Alert. SAV 9 is not able to protect you against new malwares.

FYI, I am already running Symatec Corporate 10.

Why don't you just tell us what is CAUSING this problem so we can FIX IT!???

If you google the key words you will see that THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE!

FSecure is becoming MORE and MORE attractive.
