SAV Corp 10.2 slows down WinXP in dual boot Mac Mini

We have several dual boot Intel based Mac Minis (1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo with 512 MB of RAM) with Windows XP SP2 on them.  When I first installed Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.2 ( more specifically 10.1.9.9000) on them, everything seemed OK.  However as time passed (a few days) the mac minis under XP have slowed down to the point that they are virtually unusable.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Aside from uninstalling the antivirus, has anyone been able to resolve this issue?  I would really appreciate any help/suggestions that you could give me.

I would never run XP with 512

I would never run XP with 512 ram, all my systems are running 2GB. You can search through the connect forum, and you will see others stating the same about XP.

Here is a sample - https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep...

Is it just a RAM issue?

Thanks Thomas.  We are planning to increase the RAM but I was wondering why the mac minis are getting slower every day.  If it were just a RAM issue, I would expect it to be slow but remain at that same speed all of the time.  I expect the increase in RAM to improve performance but will it once again get slower every day to the point that it will be unusable again?
