This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

Is there a way to download 64 bit client definitions without LiveUpdate? Our Liveupdate server is down and we need updated definitions. Thanks.

Thanks. Is there a way to automate this install; or possibly automate downloading the files to the LiveUpdate server and let the server push the definitions out?

you can install liveudpate admin on any other server and then setup a schedule to download if it has the internet connection

The information about your environment is extremely limited, so we really can't give you very specific answers.

Your first question was answered by Rafeeq. Intelligent Updater. These updates can be scripted, but that's all up to you (writing the scripts).

Your second question mentions "our liveupdate server is down"... so I'm assuming you have LUA... but isn't that exactly what you're asking for in your comment? If not, please elaborate.

Sorry for the confusion. So we have a LUA server that errors on definition downloads because of a new IDS/IPS signature we rolled out recently. So, while this is getting resolved, I'm asking about ways we can get the definition files through other means, put them in the LUA server distribution share, and then push definitions to clients, instead of manually downloading the definitions for every client. Hopes this clears things up!

You  can setup another luadmin, for the time being...or  you  could  download the.jdb file  on the  server

Hello,

There are 2 options as I see for you.

OPTION 1) As suggested by Kalani above, use a Different LUA and the same could be done by checking KB article provided below:

Updating downloads in an internal LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x Server using the downloads from an external LiveUpdate Server

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

OR

OPTION 2) If you don't want to Install a Different LUA, then you can manually update the SEPM by way of .jdb file and the same could be done by checking KB article provided below:

How to manually update definitions for a managed Symantec Endpoint Protection Client using the .jdb file
