Hello all,

Our servers/clients are currently on SAVCE 10.1.5.5001. I am about to start testing 10.1.6.6000 with the intent
of updating all systems. Before I go through the time for testing and deployment, I thought I'd ask if anyone
knew if Symantec might be coming up with a version 11 anytime soon. Just being lazy I guess.

Thanks.

We have not officially announced the date for 11.0 yet.  It is coming soon but I cannot let the cat out of the bag yet.

How many seats do you have to roll out?  How long does it take?

Thanks for your quick answer. We have fewer than 100 clients, but 5 separate locations.
It takes the better part of a week after testing for rollout.

Hi

As far as I know, SAV 11 will not be released till September.

Thanks for the answers. Sounds like I'll be deploying 10.1.6.6000.

Other than bug fixes, are there any advantages of upgrading to the newere 10.1 releases? Most of our clients, and our servers are still on 10.1.396, although a few of our clients are using 10.1.5.5000.

Unless you need the bug fixes that are in 10.1 MR6, there is no need to upgrade.

Hi LANTech,

I've had a lot of experience with Symantec AntiVirus and my advice I think would be to hold off for a while. Like any new product, it's not really wise to make the jump straight away - might as well let someone else road test it ;o)

Cheers,

Chris

LANTech,

If you're still on build 396, you might want to consider upgrading.  There were some security issues with that build which prompted Symantec to roll out a Maintenance Patch as well as a Point Patch for that build.
