  • 1.  SAVFL MR12 - VirusDef not being cleaned up

    Posted Nov 23, 2011 11:23 AM

    Good afternoon everyone.

I am runnig SAVFL MR12 on my Linux box and I just realized that the directory /opt/Symantec/virusdefs is about 1.9 GB of disk space.

That's what I can see right now :

    virusdefs]# du -h .
    310M ./tmp7419a525
    4.0K ./tmp76e783a5
    266M ./20111113.005
    234M ./binhub
    4.0K ./tmp27bc70f0
    234M ./tmpc771901
    2.5M ./tmp49f04f2b
    4.0K ./tmp4ba80351
    236M ./tmp74d6fd31
    4.0K ./incoming
    310M ./tmp5a96b35
    266M ./20111114.004
    4.0K ./texthub

    My questions are :

    - Can I remove some of these files/directories ?

    - Is there any action to take before/after remove them ?

Please let me know if do you need any other information

    Thanks

    Renato Granzoto

    Hi Renato,

Just stumbled across this thread today - have you already fixed the issue?

That behavior does sound odd.  How old are the oldest files?  Do the oldest ones get deleted?

If need be, here is a good article on how to clean up those directories:

How to remediate virus definitions in Symantec Antivirus for Linux (SAVFL) 1.0.x

    Hope this helps!
