Saving of TIFF files again
Created: 19 Sep 2012 | 7 comments
Hi,
We upgraded our PGP Desktop clients to the latest version PGP Desktop 10.2.1 MP3.
We are still having problems saving TIF files, basically faxe image files and scanned image files. If you save directly from Docuemnt Scanner or Paint Shop pro, the TIF file saves in a corrupt state, and cannot be re-opened. Also if we unencrypt the file it is still corrupted.
If the encrypted TIF files is moved to another folder within the encrypted folder it becomes corrupt.
This has only started to become a problem since we upgraded our files server to 2008 R2.
This is becoming very serious as we are potentially losing data. Existing TIF files load up fine, but cannot be re-saved.

So is this relating to a NetShare folder? Can you give more information about your server?
IIRC you had the same issue and upgrading sorted it, is it just tif files now you are having issues with and all other image formats are working OK?

Hi,
Yes, sorry this is releated to Net Share. So far we have tested other formats that we can, Jpg. For instance seems to work ok. Its just everything else is saved as TIF and he is worried that he will lose his existing TIF images as well. I have managed to replicate the issue on my machine with a brand new netshare folder.
:(
Apologies, looks like it is affecting jpgs as well. This is from the log on warning when trying to decrypt it. Opening it fails as well. :(

Can you enable debug logging on the PGP Desktop and paste the verbose?

Hmm - encrypted session key is bad (-11476)
That looks like the problem.
Is that debug? There should be 3 times as much information in the logging now and all say Debug next to them

Hi,
Sorry, i didn't think it would help:
10:17:59 NetShare Debug Policy update skipped
10:18:11 NetShare Debug Policy update skipped
These are the only debug information we have.
