SBG 7.7 redirect HTTP 80 --> HTTPS 443

Yes, it's me again, whining about server ports. :)

Wondering if there's any way to have HTTP traffic automatically redirected to HTTPS? Currently if a user types in http://<servername> they get a page error. I'd like it to automatically redirect to https://<servername>. This is something we usually set up with our secure servers.

I'm happy that we can now use port 443 rather than 41443 with SBG 7.7, but this redirect would be the final missing piece for usability. I have no interest in opening port 80 for access (I know I can optionally do this), merely to redirect for ease of use.

Thanks!

Hey Doni,

To be honest I'm not sure if there is a way to do that or not. I haven't been asked that question yet. :smileywink:

It is a good question though so I'll see if I can find any information on how we could do that.

Thanks!

Tom

Thanks Tom. Outside the forum, Ian indicated that it isn't possible right now, but it's currently on the wish list, although with a low priority. Which is perfectly understandable. Maybe next year. :)
