    Hi All,
        I know this sounds stupid, but is there any way we can get the below information for SBG 8380 Appliance ?
        - OS version
        - Database version 
       - Antivirus version

    Hi,

    you can use the "version" command as well.

    The version command displays the version of the software that is installed on the appliance. The version command also displays the date and time at which the current version was installed.

    Thanks, but what i need is the Redhat version and the mysql version that use by SBG appliance. When i run version command, i just can get the SBG firmware version only.
    Any idea to retrive the info on the OS and database level ? please advise, many thanks.

    Hi CB,

    Can you please provide some background for your request?

    Please note that you can not add/remove/update individual components of Symantec Brightmail Gateway (SBG) software.  The only supported method of updating the appliance is via Software Update.  Here are some KB articles for reference:

    If you need to contact support with an issue, then just the output of version command is sufficient to uniquely identify the set of components that make up a specific appliance release.

    Hi Adnan,
         Thanks for the reply, basically i just need to provide the SBG infor to my customer for record and audit purposes.
    We did deployed 4 units of SBG 8380 to my customer and they are in banking environment, they have a implementation checklist to record all the OS version for the security appliance, and the SBG firmware version is not enough for them. 
         Please addvise is it possible to get the above OS version, else i will just send the KB articles above to them. Many thanks.

    Hi CB,

    Information about versions of individual components is something that can not be posted to these public forums.  If you really need it, you will have to contact support with a valid reason, otherwise as I said earlier, knowing the version of appliance is sufficient.

    One thing you can do is generate a diagnostics package on the appliance and look at rpm_qa.txt file.

    Please see page 610 in Symantec Brightmail Gateway 8.0 Administration Guide for a description of the diagnostics command.
