SBS 2008 Backup of System State fails (BE12.5)
Hi,
We are having an issue backing up the system state of our SBS 2008 server.
The job runs through and all other selections backup without issue, however when it attempts to backup the system state, the following error is reported in the log:
WARNING: "\\SBS2008\System?State\System Files\System Files" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.
We have enabled debug logging and the entry in the log relating to the error seems to point to a shortcut on the start menu:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\AnywhereUSB\Anywhere USB Config Utility.lnk
We have removed the shortcut from the start menu and re-run the backup, however it still fails.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Does it still fail in trying
Does it still fail in trying to look for this file? Can you post some lines from the debug log?
Thanks
Are you running AOFO? If so,
Are you running AOFO? If so, you should be using Windows VSS? If you are using AOFO, try turning it off and run the backup again. By the way when I have seen this issue, the backups are good and you can restore from it including the Shadow copy files. It seems to be an issue with VSS snapshot changing between the time the file is written and the time it is verified.
Temporary fix, neither very good, is not back up the folder or not verify.
So would be nice to get a fix to the issue though.
Hope it helps.
