SBS2011 from SBS 2003

Created: 14 Mar 2013 | 4 comments

I had BE 2010 on my SBS 2003 machine, and it threw a RAID controller.  Lost everything, and my only hopes are my back-ups from BE 2010 (doing their job right?).  Unforunately, the disks and key have gone missing.  I tried downloading a trial of BE 2012 just to try to get the data off, but can not seem to figure out how to "mount it" (make 2012 recognize my external drive as having back-ups).  Tech support says that they can not help me since they can not provide the best service w/o having my key, but obviously I wouldn't have these back-ups if I did not have their software in the first place.......Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!  Any chance that you have a link on how to "link" my old backup files to the new account once installed?  Or should it just detect?

You have to recreate the Backup to disk device, and run inventory and catalog jobs - there is probably an article somwhere on our site for how to DR an SBS server.
