    Hi!

After installing Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition I would like to configure it to work smoothly with a backup solution that we already have.

I was thinking about runing pre/post commands with

    net stop "Symantec AntiVirus"

    net start "Symantec AntiVirus"

before and after backups so that the backup runs faster, however after a research I've found the following articles referencing to version SEP 11.0

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH102764&locale=en_US

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH105418&locale=en_US

I have tried to find the similar option (Advanced Scanning and Monitoring) under the policies of SEP 12 but can't find it.

Is the 'Scan when a file is backed up' option still available in SEP 12 ???

    Where?

Unfortunately that option was removed in SEP 12.

I see. But how is it possible to somehow temporary disable the AntiVirus protection during backups and then re-enable it? Everytime I run 'net stop "Symantec AntiVirus" ' it's re-enabled automatically after few seconds...

Double click the SEP icon in the task bar, click "Configure Settings' and disable File System Auto-Protect.

    Cycletech,

Our application specialists sometimes want to disable real-time scanning temporarily during troubleshooting.

Aside from COH3.exe, is it effective to stop "Symantec Endpoint Protection" under Services?

    Thanks
