Symantec product named ScanEngine (version 5.2) Difference between ScanEngine and SEPM?

how that product is managed in regards to configurations and receiving virus definition updates?

Can this product receive viris definitionsupdates from SEPM servers?

    Greetings,

SEP is a file system level scan, meaning it has drivers that allow SEP to scan an item before it is accessed.  Scan Engine is a scan on demand process, meaning that it sits and waits for information or an item to be passed to it.

Scan Engine can be used to scan items as they are being submitted through a website or can work with Netapp, EMC filers or MS Sharepoint to scan items as they are committed or modified on the file system.

Definitions cannot be managed by a SEPM for the Scan Engine product.  Scan Engine would need to be allowed to pull definitions from the internet or from an LUA server.

The product is managed through a web interface and is very simple in comparison with most Symantec AV scanning products.

What will happen If both SEP 12.1 client and symantec scaa engine installed in one system?

Is there any conflict between those products?

As per your comment above I understand that Symantec scan egine can't managed by SEPM.

Is there any document for Scan Engine 5.2?

Can anyone please help me how to scan engine systems to get definitions from Internal Liveupdate server.

We have One SEPM server  and one internal liveupdate server (newly installed today for Scan engine systems)

and is it possible to view th updated scane engine systems in LUA console.(Means if one scan engine client is updated with latest defs throgh LUA, in this case is it possible to view the updated client in LUA console) instead of veiwing in client console.
