Scanning a mounted Windows directory in unix causes high CPU usage

I have a Red Hat machine with a Windows mounted directory. When the Red Hat machine runs a scan the CPU usage on the Red Hat machine grows to 100% when it scans the mounted Windows directory.

I am not a Linux/Unix guru and I need to know how to Exclude the mounted Windows directory from the Scan?

I do have a co-worker with Unix experience that manages the Linux boxes so the explanation does not need to be in ID10t terms.:smileytongue:

    Thanks,
