I would suggest disabling the scanning of compressed files. The action of examining X number of layers deep
definitely will make the scan take a LOT longer. If something is found within a compressed file, no action can be taken, and if an infected compressed file is ever uncompressed, Auto-Protect will take action on the threat as it's attempting to write the files within the archive to the drive.
Unfortunately, Centralized Exceptions apply to both scheduled scans and real-time protection. The greater number of exceptions you make, the greater the security risk. I would at least make sure Centralized Exceptions are set for all database file types in use in your environment.
