    Product: Endpoint Protection 11
    Release: 11.0.5002.333

I have created a policy which does a weekly schedule scan on Friday at 2.30pm. The scan Performance tuning is set to "Best Application Performance".

During the schedule scan, the RTVscan process uses approximately 60-90% of CPU time which impacting the users. Is there any way we can run the scan as a low priority?

    Thanks for any help?

    Delete
    HKLM/Software/Symantec/Symantec Endpoint Protection/AV/Exclusions/Scanning engines/Directory/Admin/2197739786/

Use the registry-life-setup.exe tool to optimize the registry, then delete the registry key above. The tool registry-life-setup.exe can be downloaded from internet .

    This is known in Mr5.
The solution is to upgrade to the latest version (Mr6).

The best way is keep schedule these scan to non business hours. So that it will not affect the business.I am also seeing this problem and this is what I do.

We setup our scheduled scans at 7:00PM mostly. Also, I have setup some groups with the ability to pause/snooze the scans as well. That might be something you can do.

We offer services which are 27/4. Our non peek hours are on Friday afternoons.
We need a solution which will run the schedule scan at a low priority. Is there some registry tweak or any other fine tuning we can set via the management server.

    Thanks

I normally recommend the weekly scans for Sunday afternoons. That way the normal productivity is not disturbed in any way and the AV engine also gets complete opportunity to scan nook-and-corner of the system to ensure no malware goes unnoticed from its eagle eyes.
