  • 1.  Scheduled scan will not run

    Posted Jun 30, 2014 06:49 AM

    Hi,

I am running SEP 12.1 and have SEP deployed to all machines within the business.

The SEP management console receives all updated definitions and sends out to all clients and they receive this fine.

One client machine does not receive the update due to the daily scheduled scan which does not run on the machine.

Can you please advise how i can ensure the scan to run, or disable a default scan and enable my own scan?

    Kind REGARDS,

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

System is not receiving updates, verify the policy serial number is correct on both SEPM and SEP clients.

If definitions are also not updated, go through the following article.

How to determine if virus definitions of Symantec Endpoint Protection client (SEP) 11 or 12 Small Business Edition, are corrupted
    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH97677

How to clear out definitions for a Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 client manually

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO59193

Can try to repair the SEP client through add/remove programs.

Personally, I'm a little intrigued by the idea that the scheduled scan not running is somehow preventing the client from updating.  The reason I find it strange is that these processes are not normally linked.

TBH though, given that this is only affecting a single client, I'd be more inclined to just uninstall, reboot, reinstall SEP and have done with it.
