Scheduled Tasks not working on German WinXP after SWV installation

rpfenninger's picture

I tried to generate a simple Scheduled Task on different machines running WinXP SP2 and SP3 German after installing SWV and rebooting(!) the machine. I get an 'Unknown Error 0x80004005'.
After uninstalling SWV the Scheduled Task work fine again. Could someone please verify this as a Bug.
On an English XP SP2 I was unable to reproduce the issue so I assume it is language related.

Thank you
Roland

What is the task?

Yamine,
Can you provide details of the task you are trying to run?

All tasks

Indeed,  first all tasks that i have scheduled before installation of SWV 6.1 mp1 don't execute after installation of SWV.
Secondly when i try to schedule a task (lanching a process for exmple) and when i save it a error message appear (see screen copy)

When i uninstall SWV all tasks work after.

KNOWN ISSUE:Scheduled tasks fail to run while layer(s) active.

This is a known issue with SWV 6.1:
https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=48846&p=1

If any layers are active when a scheduled task is created using the schedule task wizard, a warning error is displayed (detail below) and the task fails to run at scheduled time.

The task starts fine if no layers are active under Windows Xp Sp2/Sp3.

I just tested this under Vista Sp2 and the issue does not occur there.

I recommend subscribing to the above KB for automatic notifications.
