scratch media set

I please want to know one thing. If a tape that I put in, has a overwrite protection mode still enabled and I move it to the scratch media. Will the backup happen now.Do I need to move the tape from scratch media to another media set also for the backup to work?

When you move a tape from any media set to scratch media set than it becomes overwritable.

If you move a tape from scratch media set to any other media set(eg: Weekly or Daily)

than the tape inherits properties of the Weekly or Daily media set.

Yes... BE will use this tape, if no other suitable medias are avilable to use.

No.

Scratch media set will always contain over writable media and you don’t have to move the tape from scratch media set, it is handled by the backup job. For more details refer to scratch media section of the below technote:
