Hi All,

We have many robots out of them few robots are configured for VTL, We do not use Scratchpool for Physical tape library as we have to remove tapes from library everyday and recycle them... We dont have to do the same for VTL.. is it possible to create seaprate scratchpool for those robots only?

I think NOT.

You may only have one scratch pool per NBU domain. Quotation from Admin guide vol 1
"Scratch pool
Select this option to use the pool as a scratch pool.
A scratch pool is a special volume pool from which NetBackup can transfer volumes to another volume pool when that pool has no volumes available. When the images on a volume expire, NetBackup returns it to the scratch volume pool if it was assigned from the scratch pool. There can be only one scratch pool configured. You cannot add a scratch pool if
one exists.
You cannot change the NetBackup or DataStore pools to be scractch volume pools."

Permit only specified host

There is one option while creating volume pool that says 'Permit only specified host to access volumes in this pool'  Our VTL is not shared between media servers.. only one media server is having robotic control of VTL robot.. will that option be useful in our scenario

Not sure why you need to

Tapes in NB know what Robot they are in.
No robot will try to take a tape that is not in its robot.
So having one scratch pool should work just fine as each will only work with tapes it 'owns'

I don't have to know how to spell....I work on Unix.
