This issue has been solved. See solution.

Is there a way to search for all references to a file.. within the log of backups.... so:

[1] I can see if that file was backed up;

[2] I can see 'iterations' of that backed up file;

thanks...

Sure you can.  Create a

Sure you can.  Create a restore job and in the selection dialog, there is a Search Catalog button.  Click that and you can search for your particular file.  The search result will give you all the versions of the file that are in the catalog.

Yes in the restore jobs,

Yes in the restore jobs, there is a button to click to search catalogs, or go to EDIT>> SEARCH CATALOGS

It takes a while, and sometimes locks up BE, so when that happens, restart the BE server, or perhaps try and restart the BE services.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."
