Can the Searching windows filesystem be slower after archiving with FSA?

When Enterprise Vault archives a file server, EV creates a placeholder (or shortcut) to replace the original file which is basically the same file with the offline attribute and 4KB in size. If you are using Windows Search, you can search these files by name or extensions. Of course, you cannot search the content of the file since the file was already archived. However, using Enterprise Vault search, you can search the file content if the indexing level is set to full. I don't think that a Windows search would be slower. Some applications may recall a EV placeholder when performing a search or scan, which might affect the performance. In that case, you might want to take look at this technote:
