Security code all zeroes on VIP Access Android app

  • 1.  Security code all zeroes on VIP Access Android app

    Posted Apr 15, 2016 06:48 PM

I am using VIP Access for two-factor authentication.  I have VIP Access clients on desktop and Samsung Galaxy S5 Android mobile phone.  I have an issue with the VIP Access app on the Android phone where the security code will change to '000000' and will remain that way until i restart the phone. This issue occurs about once a week  - i have been able to find a correlation with any other activity on the phone.

I have tried closing the app and then reopening and the issue remains.  I have tried to reinstall the VIP app and still have the same issue.  I also tried to delete the app data but this just changed the credential id and i had to reregister the device.

Bumping this thread, as I am also experiencing this issue, but rebooting my phone does not resolve this issue.

I am seeing this as well within my organization.  I've had four reports of users with Credential ID's starting with VSTZ (Android) displaying all ZERO's.  Restart of phone does not correct the issue.

My S7 Edge just started doing this. All zero's all the time. I had a bu phone and had to revert to using the generated code off of that. Reboot or restart does not help on the S7.

I had my users delete the APP and reinstall.  The new APP credential ID's starts with VSMT which is what all iPhone credential ID's begin with.  This fixed the issue.

Seems like beeing affecting Androud/Samsung primarily as most of the reports we've seen in my comnpany are those models. and VSTZ seems to be affected. Remove and reinstall the app seems to address the issue though. Thanks FxFusion!

Thanks to everyone for the help.  I did try a reinstall a couple of months ago but will try it again.  ATT has pushed out an Android update which i have been unable to install due to organization security requirements.  Credential ID now starts with VSTZ,

I am also havng this issue and was wondering if there is anyone has found a fix other than reinstalling.

(I am unsure if I am able to at this time reinstall and sync my account with a new id number so that fix does not work for me.)

    Thanks

Does anyone know if there is another fix?

    Thank you

    Hi

I reinstalled the app and it started generating different numbers (not 000000), however, the login still says the code is invalid, the credential it is generating starts with VSMT if that makes a difference in anyone's lives,

I see FxFusion mentioned that this VSMT credential seems to be for iPhone users, however, I am using Android so it seems like something went wrong.

    Kind regards

    Chris

I started an earlier thread on this in the Norton forum.  Please see the recent update from peterweb in

    http://community.norton.com/en/forums/vip-access-security-code-all-zeroes

He suggested upgrading to the latest version of VIP Access from the Play Store.

    He says

Check the Google Play Store for an update to the VIP Access app. I just found an update that specifically mentions it fixes this zeros issue on some Samsung devices.

If you can, install this update and let us know if it solves your issue.

I downloaded this new version and so far no issues. 3.1.3 appears to have been released on 5/27
