  • 1.  Security Response shows nothing and other questions...

    Hi,

We are running Windows Server 2003 R2.

I've searched around posts and have seen this question, but I haven't actually seen a solution to the problem.

    1. In the home screen under the security responst box it says "no data, possibly because no internet access since install time". Proxy settings are fine, and it downloads from the LiveUpdate site and everything.

What could be the cause of this?

    2. I've recently installed SEPM 11.04 on a new server, while the same version is still running on an old server. I've added the Directory Services so that I can import the Organisational Units from Active Directory, so the machines get added fine, however they show up as not connected. Is there a clash when running 2 different Managers? We will eventually remove the Old Management Server. How do you get the current machines that already have SEP installed, to communicate with the NEW management console??

Any advice would be greatly appreciate!!!

    1. Are you able to access the address http://securityresponse.symantec.com ? Do you have any ISA server? Is your SEPM installed on Windows XP?

    2. This is because client no nothing about your new server :-) The clients have their communication settings in C:\Program files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\sylink.xml

The easiest way to change that is to export communication data from the new manager and use SylinkReplacer tool:

Restoring communication to clients with a new sylink.xml file

    Hi,

I've discovered the Sylink.exe from the symantec site which has come in quite handy, so have been able to add the clients that way.

I can access that URL you suggested, and I can click on the links in the security response area and they take me to the sites. SEPM is running on Windows Server 2003, its not an ISA server. It just has some monitoring software on there and WSUS.

    Any ideas?

Do you use any proxy in your environment? And does the console updates correctly?

    Hi,

Sorry for the late response, I was on holidays.

Yes the console uses a proxy server, but all that is fine and it gets the updates regularly.. The Security response are still shows nothing.
