    Dear All,

I am looking for the virtual disk encryption function and all of the information point me to the product - Symantec Encryption Desktop.

However, I would really want to try out the software first before buying it, I learnt that to get the software one would need to purchase Symantec Endpoint Encryption first, and using the serial number, the software should be available from file connect. Would any one knows whether there are a link to the SED trial version please?

If the above is not possible, can someone please kindly advise whether the software support access from OS resources (i.e. batch jobs) to the encrypted drive (no auto unmount will be set) even when the user login session is locked?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Lok Koo

    Dear Vandana S,

    Thank you for your reply.

However, when I visit the link, the closest matches I could find are:

    1. Desktop Email Encryption

    2. Endpoint Encryption

I have downloaded the trial version of Endpoint Endcryption but only Drive encryption is bundled in the software (which it encrypts the whole disk rather than creating a virtual disk)

Grateful if you could kindly advise.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Lok Koo

    Hi Lok Koo,

Symantec Encryption Desktop has different features like Virtual disk, Desktop Email Encryption, Disk Encryption and FileShare Encryption.

In the trial ware the Desktop Email Encryption option is the one that you will need and enabling the feature depends on the license key.

Please get in touch with the licensing / customer care team from the list in the below link according to your location http://www.symantec.com/support/assistance_care.jsp and check for the trial ware license key which will by default have all the features enabled for 30 days.

Also check below the article for HOW TO: License Symantec Encryption Desktop \ PGP Desktop

    Hello Lok Koo,

Please select Desktop Email Encryption and you would need to register yourself to download the Trialware. Once you have registered and downloaded the product. You would recieve email from Symantec regarding the trial License, it has all the features and Virtual Disk Encryption that you would like to use.

I tried it in my Lab and was able to get the Virtual Disk enabled.
