    Hi there

I have a similar problem and require assistance please.

My removable external drive was encrypted with Endpoint Encryption by my former employer. It never gave me access problems previously. I know the password. I have now tried accessing the encrypted files on two other computers. When I try to launch the Removable Storage Access Utility application (SEEAccessutility.exe) from the external drive it keeps on hanging / not responding.

Product details: Symantec Endpoint Encryption Removable Storage Access Utility 8.2.10, File version 8201.300.67.1, Removable Storage Edition.

The external drive details: Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive, 500GB (with approx. 200GB of data). File system: NTFS

    My computer: Dell Latitute E5430

I estimate approx. 10GB to 50GB of data is encrypted.

    Thanks

I have the same problem and am running (I think) SEER 12.1.  I can't get the exact information because it hangs and does not allow me to see the About info.  I really need to access the files on my external.  I have my CAC card and the default PW I used when I copied the files onto the drive but I never get to the point to select the files I want to decrypt nor does it ever prompt me for anything.  It hangs displaying "Please wait while Access Utility is being loaded" and does nothing else.  I notice that the Ext HDD light continuously flashes as if it's being read but nothing else happens.  I've let it sit for over an hour with nothing.  Please help!

    Any update on the same?

SEE removable storage utility just hangs and closes after sometime. Can Symantec send a downlodable link for a new installation to correct the error?

    Hello everyone,

glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem.  I have had some sporadic success tho.  The external hard drive has version 8.1.2 on it. I'm running windows 8.1 on an asus 2 in 1 laptop with a toshiba external hard drive holding my files hostage. I've gotten it to decrypt two directories before hanging again, so be prepared to kill and restart it several times before you get all your files offloaded.  Be advised I am a mainframe person, my PC knowledge is typically limited to installing applications and googling for answers to problems (which is how I found this thread), just trial and error of different tricks I've picked up over the years poking around.  First I tried running as administrator.  It brought it up but and displayed the files, then nothing.  Then I tried setting the compatibility mode to Windows 7 (right click on the .exe file then click on properites) and still running as administrator. After I killed it thru task manager (again) the troubleshooter popped up and fixed a few things.  the combination that seems to work (for bits at a time) is

Compatibility mode Windows 7, and it also checked off the Disable display scaling on high DPI settings and run as admin.  see attched Jpg.  like i said I made some progress, but decrypting one or two directories at a time is better than not at all.

    Good Luck.
