Assuming SEE is installed properly on a drive I should not be able to remove the HDD from one system (HP 8100) put it into another system (HP 7100) and be able to access or transfer the data. Am I wrong or missing something?

You cannot place an encrypted hdd from Machine1 as a slave disk on Machine2.

If you are trying to retrieve data, then you might have to use the Access or Recovery Utility CD(s) (comes as ISO images with the server install files)

I think you can move the disk as long as the 2 systems are compatable.

For instance, we installed encryption on a PC that turned out to be unsupported.  We then physically moved the disk into a different model.  It booted, then we were able to remove encryption.  In this scenario using the access CD also didn;t work as it wouldn't boot into it.

I would think this would probably be the same for all systems as long as there was basic compatability between them.  You would probably get driver issues etc, but if it was just to remove the software it may work.

    Hello Mattahs

In this situation, if you remove a harddrive and connect it to a different work Workstation, It wouldnt work.

There would be a Hardware id miss match. So that wouldnt work.

Adding to that...... the machine would think that is a RAW Partition.... And would ask you to format that.

I had a support case on this recently.   With previous versions of Endpoint Encryption we were able to pull a drive and place it in an identical computer.   This sort of thing occurs often in a helpdesk due to non-harddrive hardware problems in the original computer.

This no longer works.    As karthik says, you can't do that anymore.   There is a hardare id mismatch.   The "solution" is to decrypt the drive before moving to a new machine.   Making my helpdesk hate this product even more.
