SEE ~Removable Storage Edition - Access USB Tool...

Created: 19 Jan 2010 • Updated: 22 Jul 2010 | 2 comments

Scenario:

A user copies files to a usb pen from a machine that has SEE install.

When they save they get prompted to use a password from the RS Access tool.

They go home or to a client off the network and access the files (via tye access tool on the usb stick) - they get asked for a password.

When they save, the files are decrypted - the user has to manaully open the tool again and encrypt the file again.

IS THERE anyway, for the file to be decrypted if they save as or save changed to a word doument for example?

The only way to automatically re-encrypt the files is to have SEE installed on the workstation that is saving the files.

or use the utilty - thanks - also found this in thew guide (if anyone else wanted to know):

The Removable Storage Access Utility is designed to serve as your primary means of browsing and accessing the files on your removable storage device. If you use Windows Explorer to navigate the contents on your removable storage device, you won’t be able to decrypt encrypted files. You won’t be able to encrypt files for secure transport. In addition, you won’t be prompted to encrypt unencrypted files before removing your device.
