This issue has been solved. See solution.

Preforming an upgrade from 10.1.6 to 10.1.8 and getting this message "The selected computer ******* does not have windows 2000 or higher"  However the client computer has XP as the OS.  and we are pushing the upgrade from a windows 2003 server,
How do we get this to upgrade to 10.1.8

On how many computers

On how many computers you are having this issue..

If it is handfull you can use a workaround of pulling the install from \\SAV Server\vphome\

Please check if you have

Please check if you have adequate permissions on the following registry key. Specifically, for the administrator account should have full control on the subject workstation.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version.

Also check DCOM permissions.

Yes we did the SSC first and

Yes we did the SSC first and then went out to the clients. We just checked the registry and DCOM on both server and the clients and they were set with the admin rights.

Thank you for the help so far. any more thoughts please pass on !!

As suggested

As suggested earlier since it is just 10 clients..you can do a pull install on them from the SAV server and it will work fine..
I have searched a little bit but haven't any perfect response in which release it is fixed..
So since its just 10 do a pull install on them..

Login to the client go to \\SAV server IP or name\VPHOME\clt-inst\Symantec antivirus.msi it will upgrade..
