I have created an Upgrade group to drop computer accounts into when I want stage them for Upgrading from R5 to R6 MP1. My question is when I created the group, added 2 computers and add the installation package, the upgrade started and while it seemed to take a little while, voila systems were upgraded, rebooted and all is well. When I added 2 more computers to the group they don't seem to be taking on the upgrade from R5.... Does the 'apply installation package' on work on computers in an existing group? Does it mean that I will be unable to add to computers as needed to the upgrade?

    Thanks in advance.... :-)

*** Started right after I hit the post button but took almost 40 minutes to initiate....

    Hi Lisatech

This process can have quite a delay to actually kick off, sometimes an hour or two. Also I believe we only do 5-10 machines at a time so if you throw in more than that there will be same waiting for the next cycle.

Glad to hear everything is going ok :)

    FYI:

Upgrading from RU5 to RU6 MP1 is not supported:

Symantec Endpoint Protection RU6 MP1 (11.0.6100) [...] cannot be installed over any versions of Symantec Endpoint Protection or Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager prior to RU6. It must be installed over RU6 or RU6a.

You can upgrade directly from RU5, but the migration path is not supported.

Possible effects after a direct upgrade to RU6MP1  from a lower version [except RU6]:
    Schema Corruption.
    Possible dll corruption.
    Policies Corruption.
    Network breakdown.
    Challenges with uninstalling SEP.

Thanks TORB... - we did spend the time going R5 -> R6a then to R6 MP1. Just finished the 2nd server today so now to the next leg of updating current clients....

I just went through the exact same process and the long wait times on some clients is normal.  I was right clicking on the client and hitting the Update policy option and it seemed to start the installation though.

I set my client to update at night, over a period of 2-3 days.
