Today I had to restore a 2003 Server (after Disk-Crash), that is DC and has SEP - Server and Client installed .
The Restore was performed by Acrserve 11.5.

Everything is running fine, exept the SEP-Console.

The Event-Log Entry is: ASANYs_sem5; Cannot open transaction log file -- No such file or directory
Is there a way to repair the Database ? Or start the Service without the LOG-File ? I. E. per Command-Line ?
    Any hints ?

One minute Later i get the Message ID 4096 from SEMSRV :  Java Virtual Machine stopped with Code -1.

Is this location correct for SEM5.DB

    "C:\Programme\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\sem5.db"
if yes then make sure the same address is reflected here..

     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASANYs_sem5\Parameters

Also make sure Authenticated users have read/Write access on C:\Programme\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager folder.

    Dear Vikram,

many thanks for your Reply !

    Yes, the Path is correct.

In the Registry -Path there is this Entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASANYs_sem5\Parameters/Parameters:
    "-c 64m -ch 64m -gp 8192 -gc 30 -gr 30 -o "C:\Programme\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\out.log" -oe "C:\Programme\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\err.log" -os 1m -gn 80 -n icksrv02 "C:\Programme\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\sem5.db" -n sem5 -sb 0 -x tcpip(localonly=yes;port=2638)"

I've checked the Access-Rights in "C:\Programme\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager".
The authenticated User have had only Read-Access.
I set the Rights to Full-Access and applied that to the Subfolders, too.

But the Service still will not start ...

Do you have further Ideas ?
