Sender authentication failure, although spf is corresponding with sender IP

    Goodmorning,

     We have a problem with our messaging gateway, we run version 10.5.3. A client domain cannot recieve email from a certain customer. It is blocked by our smg.

    The mail is coming from a certain domain, i wont mention it here, but their spf record is;

    "v=spf1 redirect=spf-a.sonnet.nl"

    The mail is accepted From:

    The IT department from the customer called us cause they think there spf record is correct. I checked it, and i tend to agree with them.

    The spf records redirects to another spf, if i check that record there is another spf record included; aut.ssonet.nl In there is the IP 144.43.249.200 included.

    So why does messaging gateway blocks it anyway?

    I am seeing the same problem with a different domain. Their SPF record contains the "include" mechanism. The verdict of SMG (we are currently on version 10.5.4) sometimes is "Sender authentication failed, static senderauth fail" although the sending IP is included in the SPF record. Some of the mails received from that IP are passing the SMG correctly, others fail.

    I could not learn any more information about this from the logs.

    Any idea? Did you find out the root cause?
