Not sure if this is possible but does anyone know if there is a component in Workflow that can send a SMS message? I looked through the components and couldn't find any that would do it.

The AOL and MSN messenger libraries are as close as you'll get now. There are some other SMS components in the works. There's also the work around of using a send email component to hit a SMS address, like 55555555@messaging.sprintpcs.com

Thanks for the info stuper. Do you happen to know when these components will be released? Our supervisors would like some way to be able to send a SMS in case the email server goes down and the work around would still have to use the mail server.

You don't have to use your mail server for this, you can use any SMTP server to send this type of email.

You could setup an SMTP server on the Workflow Server and use it to send the email. Just need to make sure that server can send out port 25 through your firewall.

Hi Aryanos, for this you need an SMS gateway, I have used http://www.clickatell.com/products/sms_gateway.php in the past

it can do one way and two way so you could send a sms and receive a response, ie """""alarm set off in datacentre... reply with '1' to raise support ticket, '2' to alert on call staff, '3' suppress alarm."""""

as I say ive used this service before its not free however its very good...

    Hope this helps.
