  • 1.  SEP 11 improved since initial release?

    Hi folks,

I'm just looking to get a little feedback on SEP11. I did some evaluation testing when it was first released and was not pleased, to say the least, with the performance as it was extremely heavy in terms of disc usage. I know that many others had similar experiences judging from the forum postings here. I wanted to know if there has been any improvement in this area since that time and how would you all compare it to the 10.x SAV series?

With Windows 7 coming down the pipe later this year I will need to get planning on the Antivirus side of things and I imagine there won't be a SAV 10.3 released to save the day. I'm assuming it will bea new SEP11or 12 that will be required. Anyway I hope some of you folks can provide some feedback/opinions. Thanks.

    Hi,

SEP 11 was significantly improved, expecially regarding the client performance. In our test the latest release of SEP resulted better than SAV 10.
SEP 11 is anyway a big product with a lot of features, therefore the SEP Manager is still heavy but better than before.
Who wants a simplified SEP Manager, can move to SEP 12, the version dedicated to the small enterprises.
You can try our trialware in a test environment.

    Cheers,

The SEP 11.0MR4 is much improved one from the MR1 version and u can try with MR4. SEP12 is for SMB users with limited features.

Since Oct of 08, with MR3, many of the performance issues were fixed.  Since MR4 MP2, a good portion of the major issues were fixed.  I hear of an MR5 coming out very soon.

That said, since the beginning release in late 07, Symantec has made the product a very fast, low impact, and solid endpoint product.  Not only does it have more security layers than SAV 10, but it uses less resources too!  Imagine that...
