Hi,

I have around 700 Clients rolledout on SEP11 MR1. The clients work out properly after a lot of fine tuning and now we are observing that some DLL files getting corrupted which in turn corrupts the SEP installation. After which we try to re-install the application or repair the same. On doing so, the installation reaches the final stage and ROLLS BACK....the only way to restore an antivirus then is to put 10.2.

i tried using spybot Search and Destry which was able to detect some browser objects installed, but sep was not detecting the same. but even after cleaning with Spybot, SEP installation does a roll back on re-installation.

Any clues on what can be done on this ?

regards,

ramesh

Seach for SEP_INST.log in the %temp% folder and look for "return value 3" and paste the 4-5 lines above that.
that would give reason for Roll back.

I HAVE A SOLUTION REGARDING SYMANTEC ROLLSBACK DURING ITS FINAL STAGE OF INSTALLATION...

in our company many computers that has Symantec Endpoint Protection antivirus are have been disabled, after many several steps on troubleshooting i come up with this procedure..... OS(winxp)

1.    UninstallSymantec(if its installed in your computer)

2.    Set thecomputer to WORKGROUP with a DIFFERENT computer name

3.    Restart PC

4.    Reinstall andUpdate the Symantec

5.    Restart PC

6.    Install SP3

7.    DOMAIN the PC

Check if Event Log is started in Services.msc

Try the below steps.

1. Check if Event Log is Started and set as automatic  in services.msc. If this service is stopped, then,
2. Download eventlog.dll file and copy it in C:\WINDOWS\system32
3. Start the Event Log services and install SEP11
