  • 1.  SEP 11 Manager can I start up PCs before the scheduled scan start

    Hi All,
    our company uses SEP 11 MR4 for 180PCs. We have scheduled scan for every sunday, but most of the users forget to leave their PCs running and shutdown them before they leave for the weekend. We have 3 offices, in bulgaria, Germany and USA, so we cannot check the PCs every friday. My question is, is it possible to schedule pc start up for all the computers in the 3 locations via SEP manager or 3th party before the schedule scan start?

    Until and Unless the system is on, we cannot start it when its off. :)
    It cannot be done by SEP for sure.
    The best option would be to  use the missed scan features
    when the users log in symatnec would have missed the scan and it will start scanning the machine.

    Hi Totally agree with rafeeq we cannot strat up a machine if it is shut down..

    it is not possible to schedule pc start up for  computers via SEP manager .This is by design.

    Thank you all for the answer. So the only way to wake up a machine is if it is in stand by ot hibernate state?

    PS. I was kind of misled about sepm start up schedule

    yes, you can wake it up,

    send out a mail to users and inform them to keep the machines on.
    we can run a command from SEPM to all the machines on Sunday
    Even if some one misssed
    we shall pull out a report who all missed on Sunday,
    this is simple  and can be achieved sir

    Install WOL tool on the machine, I would recommend to buy the product though there are some product you can download free. you would be able to schedule a Wake up computer online half an hour before your scheduled scan. you can even power off the machines at certain time with the WOL tool to save power for green IT.
