    Posted Jul 22, 2009 02:25 AM
On my Management-Server I created a lot of different groups such as server and clients. I created a package for the update but did not activate the time-schedule for the update! I have no idea why, but the Management-Server pushed the new package directley to the server\clients. Have anyone an idea why the server pushes the package even the schedule is not activated?!

Its my understanding that assigning a package to a group tells the server its ready to deploy. It will do so immediately unless there is a schedule set.

    So, basically:

     - Assigning a package = deploy now
     - Assigning a packge with a schedule = deploy only during the window

If you assign a package without schedule..it means you want to upgrade the clients right away.

if you did not create a policy for the update you will be left with the update of the default settings. on your root check the liveupdate policy.

If you set the time from 0:00 to 0:00 it will still upgrade.

Note:- If the clients in the group run a version of Symantec Endpoint Protection previous to MR3, turn off scheduling. Scheduling is on by default when a new client install package is added to a group. If scheduling is turned on, the upgrade fails. To turn off scheduling, in the Add Client Install Package dialog box, uncheck Upgrade Schedule.

You know, if you do not want the client automatically updated on the schedule, then you could transfer it over to be an unmanaged client.....that is why we have them.
