Hi All,

As per topic, bumped into this thing... retry scan... saw multiple topic popped up...

Let say we schedule scan on thursday 12pm with 2 days retry interval. The user somehow missed the thursday scan, at what time it will run the scan>?

Is it purely random timing or ?

I saw the KB below, dang too many things:

Differences

Hello,

In SEP 11.x, Let say we schedule scan on Thursday 12pm with 2 days retry interval. The user somehow missed the thursday scan, then it would be after 2 days and the Timing would be Randomly selected.

However, the same is not the case in SEP 12.1, here it asks clearly, "retry the scan within x hours"

Check the Difference between 11.x and 12.1, below:

SEP 11.x

SEP 12.1

Hope that helps!!

ok.... so the scan will

ok.... so the scan will happen at random time in either of these 2 days?

i see this quite a problem...  there's a reason why we schedule full scan at that specific time....

this retry option should be included with specific timing option...

any chance we can request Symantec to set timing when to retry?

I am afraid.

Hello,

I am afraid not in SEP 11.x.

I would request you to Migrate to the SEP 12.1.

If the computer does not start a scan when it is supposed to, specifies when to restart a scan.

Retry the scan within specifies the number of hours or days to wait before the scan runs again. (Windows only).

If you set the frequency to Daily, the maximum retry interval is 8 hours. If you set the frequency to Weekly, the maximum retry interval is 3 days. If you set the frequency to Monthly, the maximum retry interval is 11 days.

Hope that helps!!

hmmm not that this is the

hmmm

not that this is the most essential thing, also in 12.1 it's not selected in certain time range... only in hours..

e.g if the scan start randomly at 3pm or 4pm, the pc or laptop only have 2-3 hours before the user goes back to home (6pm).... hence it wont finish...

i rather set the scan to re-try either from 8am to 12pm to have more possibity for the scan to be finished..

what others think?
