I am one client connected to a network on SBS 2008, with the management console running on Server 2003. My shield has disappeared. What can I try to get it back?

You posted this in the SEP 12 small business edition forums. I moved it over to the SEP 11 forums for you. You should get your question answerd here better.

    Also

Are you using VPN on the client to access the SEP manager? One thing you need to do as well is to update your video drivers. This seems to take care of the problem for most people.

    Cheers

Do you only have a single client installed with SEP?

Can you start sep on this client?

Check if the Symantec Management Client (SMC) service is started or stopped.

Go to Clients page on SEPM click on the group in which that client is present on the right side click policies tab . then below "Location -specific Settings" click "server control ". select "customize" and select the "display the notification area icon"imagebrowser image

after this push the policy to the client and check for the icon at notification area.
