There is no SEP 11 for Linux..there is only SAVFL ( SAV for Linux )
SEP is only for Windows and Mac.

There are no trial SEP for Linux under Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.6A_Trialware_Xplat_EN.zip, but, there is a SEP for Linux under Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.6A_Xplat_EN.zip, which is not a trial version.

OK, I guessed, I checked System Requirements and Support. Anyway thanks for reply.

So there is no trial version for Linux? I'm a little confused. I'm looking at an ~300 unit deployment at a business where all the servers are Linux, but I would like to try out the endpoint protection / antivirus for Linux first.

Also - is it true that there is no central management for Linux? Will I have to update the virus definitions, etc on these 300 machines one by one?

    Thanks

Is a SEP client for Linux on the roadmap? If not Symantec should rethink that decision.

A SEP client for Linux is on the map. I am guessing this may be in the next major release of SEP, but don't quote me on that.

    Cheers,

As previously mentioned, there is no SEP for Linux, only SAV.  And it's true that there is no central management for Linux; you can point them to a LUA server for updates and manage them in a manner of speaking by generating a GRC.dat for them using ConfigEd tool.  However, there is no management console in which these clients will appear.

As I understand SEP for Linux is on the roadmap, but my prediction is that it will be a lot like Macs with regard to content delivery (i.e. not through the heartbeat process, but via LiveUpdate), simply because Linux boxes use Java LiveUpdate as well.
