Running SEP 11.0 in unmanaged client mode, is it possible to set up the firewall to block specific websites?  Or better yet, block all internet access EXCEPT specific websites?  This should be pretty simple in most firewalls but I'm having trouble with it in SEP 11.0

I've found this article http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/9c561a4628b3c9a44925747f007b19cd?OpenDocument but it applies to a different version of SEP.

This should work for you, see

This should work for you, see "Firewall Policies on Unmanaged Clients".

By default there are five rules. You can add your own customized rules via the 'Add Rule' button. Unlike managed clients, there is no rule creation wizard. Instead, a pop-up appears and allows you to configure a blank rule.

Best,
Thomas

Not quite what I needed.

I appreciate the reply.  Unfortunately that link only explains how to open the firewall configuration and I'd already gotten that far.  It has a link to a white paper but it's a summary of features, not instructions.  I've already been through the Administration guide.  I guess was hoping for more of a 'how to' guide like the one in the link in my first post.

Still need help.

I can block/allow all internet access.  And I can block/allow individual IP addresses.  But is there not a way to block/allow websites by NAME?  For example, if I wanted to block www.google.com, how would I do so?  I can't use the IP function because they have numerous servers with numerous IP addresses.

I dont think this can be done

I dont think this can be done with an unmanaged client. Anyone else want to chime in?

Best,
Thomas
