SEP 11.0.5002.333 RU5 install issue on Windows XP
Updated: 09 Aug 2010 | 8 comments
I upgraded the SEPM from 11.0.4202.75 to 11.0.5002.333 RU5 successfully. The issue is upgrading the SEP client on my Windows XP workstations, no error after the upgrade but they didn't show the icon near the time and when I try to open the SEP on the workstation the following message appears:
It appears that the Symantec Management Client service is not running. You will not be able to manage network protecion settings through the main user interface until it is running.
Do you want to start the service now?
If I chose "Yes" the service does not start anyway...
I can successfully upgrade my servers running Windows 2003 32bit and 64bit...
Any light on how I can resolve this issue will be very appreciated... Thanks in advance...

Hey,
Since you have already tried uninstall, that too with the nuke cleanwipe... I don't think this is service corruption... Something else is giving us an ache... Lets check this..
Goto services and choose Symantec Management Client and goto properties of that... Tyr to change the logon from system account to a LOCAL administrator ... restart the PC and check if you can start the service... Oh and also, please check the event logs for a detailed error ... :)
Let us know what happened .. :)
