This issue has been solved. See solution.

Is this just a simple double click and agree process or do I have to "upgrade" the SEPM just as I have done in the past.  Example, when going from 11.04 to 11.05, it was a 30 - 45 minute upgrade process and the SEPM needed database changes to the schema, etc, etc.  If this is the usual upgrade process, then I assume I need a new dl (zipped DVD's) from fileconnect, right?

I have just upgraded our SEPM's from 11.05 to 11.06a and right now I am in the process of auto-upgrading all the clients, one group at a time (about 7000 clients, about 50 groups).

And, I've tried to find some documentation on "patching" in all of my past manuals, but all I can find is "upgrade" info.  To me, a patch is normally a click and agree process.....

Yes, this was bascially a

Yes, this was bascially a "Next, next, next" type of install. But is goes thru same steps as if you are doing a normal upgrade, updating schema, etc.

Sounds like you only have one SEPM but if you don't just make to shutoff the SEPM service on all of them before upgrading.

Basically for me it went down by shutting of the SEPM service, double-clicking the setup.exe and following the on-screen instructions. Probably took 10 minutes in all.

And yes, you can find the MP1 DVD download on FileConnect

Upgrading and Patching same

Upgrading and Patching same when it comes to SEP and the procedure is same to upgrade the clients.

Assign the Install Package to all the clients and they will upgrade.

I have read that clients need

I have read that clients need to be 11.06 or 11.06a to patch to 11.06aMP1.  Before I attempt to patch, I should wait until I have all the clients to 11.06, yes?  Right now, the majority of my clients are 11.05.

. It is not recommned to

. It is not recommned to upgrade directly from RU5  to RU6MP1

This migrtaion path is not supported.
RU6MP1 is a Maintenance  patch and not a maintenance release, A MP can only be installed on the main build. You can install RU6 over RTM or MR3 or MR4MP2 but not RU6MP1. For that you need to have RU6

It is not recommend to upgrade directly from RU5 or MR4  to RU6MP1

This migration path is not supported.

Possible effects after a direct upgrade to RU6MP1  from a lower version [except RU6]:
Schema Corruption.
Possible dll corruption.
Policies Corruption.
Network breakdown.
Challenges with uninstalling SEP.
So what you need  Upgrade the clients to RU6 and then upgrade  to RU6MP1.
