  • 1.  SEP 11.x Upgrade

    Posted Oct 06, 2010 04:43 AM

I've been asked to upgrade my companies AV from SAV to SEP 11.x, most of which is straight forward but having some issues.

    1. Removing of SAV client off workstions and replacing them with SEP

    2. Removing of Sophos clients off laptops and replacing them with SEP

    3. When I have pushed out the client to computers with no AV nothing appears in the SEPM until the client machine is rebooted or if the client is pushed out twice. Is this normal?

    4. Security Status is in red but when I click "More details" another window opens and it sits on "Loading...".

All help will be much appreciated.

    1. Removing of SAV client off workstions and replacing them with SEP

check the install guide for migration, when you push SEP client on targetted systems, SAV will be upgraded to SEP.

    2. Removing of Sophos clients off laptops and replacing them with SEP

there is tool with the CD, this will aloow to uninstall to remove the Sophos. The location of the tool/script is "Tools\NoSupport\CompetitiveUninstall\"

    3. When I have pushed out the client to computers with no AV nothing appears in the SEPM until the client machine is rebooted or if the client is pushed out twice. Is this normal?

Clients communicate with the SEPM based on the heartbeat set. reboot is not must to show it on SEPM console.

    4. Security Status is in red but when I click "More details" another window opens and it sits on "Loading...".

it should not take much time for show the loading status. Could be the process is taking longer time

-I've tried this but nothing happens, I see the MSIEXE running and nothing more happens

there is tool with the CD, this will aloow to uninstall to remove the Sophos. The location of the tool/script is "Tools\NoSupport\CompetitiveUninstall\"

       - Is there no way to remotely remove them prior to deploying the package?

    3. When I have pushed out the client to computers with no AV nothing appears in the SEPM until the client machine is rebooted or if the client is pushed out twice. Is this normal?

Clients communicate with the SEPM based on the heartbeat set. reboot is not must to show it on SEPM console.

        - That is what I thought but nothing appears until the reboot, could it be some bad config?

    4. Security Status is in red but when I click "More details" another window opens and it sits on "Loading...".

        - Its been sitting like this for 30 minutes as it did before, is it not looking for Java as this is not installed?

    Thanks

Which is the version of SAV?

ools\NoSupport\CompetitiveUninstall\" is used to remove other ativirus prior to install SEP.

. When I have pushed out the client to computers with no AV nothing appears in the SEPM until the client machine is rebooted or if the client is pushed out twice. Is this normal?

Can u restart smc service in the client once and see whether it is appearing in the server?

You are facing problem only with this or you are facing problems with other reports also?

    Thanks for the reply.

I thought it was a one steps process, remove old and install new?

I'm trying to get my head around the deployment of the clients as there are both X86 and X64 clients out there, so I need to determine which is X86 and X64 and seperate the deployment. The fact that I have to deploy a client more than once before it works is really annoying and a waste of time. It should really works on the first deployment!

The problem was permissions related, if you want to access the page from another computer you need to assign permissions to the directory. Once applied it will work. Also, change the "pass-through authentication" to a service account, this will fix other issues in the future.
